Lanling King's Entry into Battle The "Lanling King's Entry into Battle" is also known as "Da Mian" and is a famous ancient Chinese song and dance drama. Originating from the Northern Qi Dynasty and flourishing during the Tang Dynasty, it is a male solo dance created to praise the military achievements and virtues of Lanling King. The dancer embodies the heroic spirit of Lanling King as he "commands and pierces" through the battlefield. According to the records of the "Book of Northern Qi," "Lanling King's Entry into Battle" originated from the Battle of Mangshan in the third year of Heqing (564 AD). In this battle, Lanling King was ordered to lead the central army and broke through the encirclement of the Northern Zhou Dynasty with five hundred brave warriors, turning the tide of the battle in favor of the Northern Qi army. After the victory at the Battle of Mangshan, the Emperor of Northern Qi personally visited Luoyang to commend the troops. During the celebration, talented Northern Qi generals and soldiers, inspired by the victory, created the dance and music piece "Lanling King's Entry into Battle" to praise the achievements of Lanling King. |
